Quality Control Inspector (Whitstable, UK)

About the role

As a Quality Control Inspector, you are responsible for supporting quality assurance activities related to securement systems and associated components. This role ensures that incoming goods meet specified material, dimensional, and drawing requirements through detailed inspection and testing. The inspector plays a key role in maintaining product integrity, identifying non-conformances, and ensuring proper documentation and traceability. You will be passionate about quality and detail and to contributing to the success of a performance-driven business.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform inspection of incoming materials and components to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Conduct dimensional, visual, and functional inspections using appropriate measuring tools and test apparatus where required.
  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and material requirements accurately.
  • Record inspection results clearly and accurately in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain and organise inspection documentation for traceability and audit purposes.
  • Identify non-conforming materials and initiate Supplier Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
  • Capture and document supporting evidence for NCRs, including photographs, measurements, and test data.
  • Work closely with suppliers, procurement, and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Ensure compliance with internal quality management systems and relevant industry standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the quality function.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and identification of inspected materials.
  • First stage inspection of customer returns (commercial and technical).

 

Key skills and experience

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity and regular hands on use of inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) and test equipment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Previous experience in a quality control or inspection role, preferably within manufacturing, engineering, or mechanical environments.
  • Experience inspecting securement systems or similar mechanical components (e.g. Automotive)
